Our Pilates Classes
Our Body Control Pilates mat classes - for up to 12 clients - take place in Studio 2. Offering physical and mental training, mat classes work on body awareness, core strength and postural alignment.
Our classes range from Beginners to Advanced; and we aim to progress clients as quickly and safely as possible on to more challenging movements.
Body Control Pilates is a safe and effective way to work progressively towards the classical method, developed by Joseph Pilates. The programme we teach is adapted from the ‘classical’ exercises as so they are accessible to all, not just dancers or gymnasts. To get the full benefits of Pilates, these classical exercises are broken down to establish good movement skills thus building the best possible foundation upon which to progress towards the classical, more advanced work. This is the essence of the Body Control Pilates Method.
Cadillac sessions take only four people, making these classes feel very personalised, allowing time for discussion and demonstration where necessary. In these classes the body is supported and guided through movements to re-balance muscle strength and create flexibility in every joint. With the ability to isolate almost every muscle group, the Cadillac is an excellent tool for breaking down movements in order to identify and correct inefficient motion patterns. These classes are wonderful in terms of self discovery and confidence; you will be amazed at what your body can do.
For up to six clients, our group Reformer classes aim to dramatically change the way your body looks, feels and performs. Using a combination of springs, ropes and a moving carriage, the reformer machine provides resistance and assistance to Pilates exercises.
These classes build strength in all the right places; targeting the smaller muscles, which may be underdeveloped and retraining the body to use more efficient muscle recruitment patterns. The overall result is a universally developed body.
For clients who may need or would prefer to work alone with a teacher, we can provide private Pilates sessions tailored to a person’s particular needs.
With an individual workout tailored to a client’s specific requirements, Studio Sessions are performed across a range of equipment including the Reformer, Cadillac, Ladder Barrel and Chair. Highly personalised, the sky is the limit with these sessions.
Pilates in Pregnancy
All of our teachers are qualified to teach Pilates for pregnancy. We currently do not offer specific pregnancy Pilates classes, however we tailor the exercises for pregnant clients in regular classes.
We just ask that you are 16 weeks pregnant if a total beginner to Pilates before you start a class. 121’s are also a great idea for pregnant ladies.
